A cheaper DocuSign alternative: the same feature set for half the price, and we do the switch

SignSafe is a tool for document workflow and for collecting signatures from anyone, including people with no easy way to sign: a phone, internet and a finger, one minute. For a DocuSign user three things matter: cost, where the data is kept, and whether the integration with their system survives a switch. We answer each plainly, including the qualified signature, which we can connect.

The SignSafe alternative to DocuSign is a move from DocuSign to a document workflow and signature collection tool for the flow of sending, signing, status and return, also through a REST API that we mostly build ourselves. The customer gets the same feature set at 50% of their DocuSign price. Data is in the EU (OVH), and we can connect a qualified signature.

Offer for API customers and companies switching providers

Paying a competitor for e-signatures? We will offer 50% of that price.

We deliver the identical feature package you use today with Autenti, Pergamin, DocuSign or Adobe Sign, at a price 50% lower than your current one. Just show us an invoice or offer from your current provider. We take care of the rest.

−50%off your current price

The identical feature package at the identical price minus 50%. Offer on presentation of your current provider’s invoice or offer; terms are agreed individually.

What usually gets in the way

Cost rises with the number of documents or users

With growing volume the signature bill becomes a significant budget item although the process is simple.

You want to know where your documents are

Documents hold personal data of employees and clients, and the GDPR requires clarity on processing arrangements and location.

The system integration is key to the process

If signed documents must return automatically to the right record, the new tool has to handle that, otherwise switching is pointless.

How it works

Show your DocuSign invoice or offer

We check which features you really use in the daily process.

Match the legal requirements

We establish whether any document needs a qualified signature. If so, we can connect it in SignSafe.

Test in the trial period

You send your own documents without dropping DocuSign, also in parallel with it (to be agreed).

Connect the API

We agree the integration with support at every stage of the rollout.

Switch new documents over

You choose the day from which you send through SignSafe. We also help with migrating documents and the archive.

What you can do

  • Review your DocuSign invoice or offer
  • Test the handwritten phone signature with no account on the recipient’s side
  • Move sending from your system to the API
  • Sign the data processing agreement

Who it is for

  • Companies paying for DocuSign that mainly use it to send documents and sign
  • Organisations that need documents with personal data stored on servers in the EU
  • Teams with document sending integrated into a CRM or HR system who want to test a replacement

How much does a cheaper DocuSign alternative cost?

On showing an invoice or offer from DocuSign we prepare a 1:1 offer, as with the competition: the same feature set at a price 50% lower than your current provider’s.

If you start small, the SignSafe standard plan is 69 PLN net per month, with full access and 1 GB for documents. API access is priced individually. More: pricing.

Where is the data and who answers for the GDPR?

We store service data on servers in the European Union, with OVH hosting. For business and API customers we sign a separate data processing agreement that sets out how we process personal data on your behalf. Payments are handled by the operator Tpay.

Documents are signed by people who do not create an account, so no extra account holding data arises on the recipient’s side. We can also add any interface language for the recipient, for example for foreigners. Full description in legal security.

Will I keep the API integration, and what about the qualified signature?

SignSafe has a REST API: the document leaves your system, the recipient signs by hand, and the signed PDF returns to the customer, employee, lead or project record. We build the integration and make the REST API documentation available on request for an offer. See API integration.

A SignSafe signature is handwritten and, according to the 2023 G&A legal opinion, meets the written form, but our own handwritten signature is not a qualified electronic signature. If part of your documents needs a qualified electronic signature (for example the electronic form under Art. 78¹ of the Civil Code), we can connect it in SignSafe. A notarial deed cannot be replaced this way. This is a summary of an opinion, not legal advice. The whole switching process is described in switch e-signature provider.

Switching from DocuSign with no effort on your side

You do not need to tie up your developers in the whole switch. We configure SignSafe, build the integration through the REST API, test sending, signing and returning the document, switch new documents over, and help with migrating documents and the archive. Three things stay on your side: showing the DocuSign invoice or offer, giving access to the integration point and accepting the tests.

A rollout with integration into a dedicated system is described in the R2T case.

Security and legal basis

Service data, including documents and signers’ data, is stored on servers in the European Union (OVH hosting).

For business and API customers we sign a data processing agreement (GDPR).

A SignSafe signature is a handwritten signature and meets the written form (G&A legal opinion, 2023). Our own handwritten signature is not qualified, but where a qualified electronic signature is required, we can connect it.

Legal nature of a signature placed by hand on the touch screen of an electronic device

A signature placed in SignSafe is a handwritten signature, and a declaration of intent signed in the app meets the requirements of written form. If the signature did not qualify as handwritten, the declaration is still valid in documentary form. In legal effect it is equivalent to a qualified electronic signature: both preserve written form.

Frequently asked questions

Is SignSafe a cheaper alternative to DocuSign?

On showing a DocuSign invoice or offer we prepare a 1:1 offer: the same feature set at a price 50% lower than your current provider’s. For sending, signing, status and returning a document, also through the API, we offer the same functionality.

Where does SignSafe store documents?

On servers in the European Union, with OVH hosting. For business customers we sign a data processing agreement.

Will I keep my API integration after leaving DocuSign?

Yes, SignSafe has a REST API for sending from your system and returning signed documents. We build the integration, and we make the REST API documentation available on request for an offer.

Does SignSafe support a qualified signature?

Yes, we can connect one. SignSafe’s own handwritten signature is not qualified: it meets the written form according to the 2023 G&A legal opinion. Where a qualified electronic signature is required, for example for the electronic form under Art. 78¹ of the Civil Code, we connect it in SignSafe. It does not replace a notarial deed.

In what language will the recipient see the signing interface?

We can add any interface language for the recipient. We agree the scope during rollout, and the recipient signs with a finger on a phone, with no account.

Does the recipient need an account?

No. The recipient opens a link in a browser and signs with a finger on the screen. No registration, no app.

Can I test SignSafe alongside DocuSign?

Yes. There is a free trial period at the start in which you can try SignSafe on your own documents without dropping your current tool. The trial can also run in parallel with DocuSign, to be agreed.

Will switching from DocuSign be burdensome?

No. With an API integration we do practically everything. On your side there is showing the invoice or offer, access to the integration point and accepting the tests.

Is the SignSafe integration through a REST API?

Yes. We build the integration with your system through a REST API. We make the REST API documentation available on request for an offer.

Do I get the same feature set as in DocuSign for half the price?

Yes, for sending, signing, status and returning a document, also through the API. On showing a DocuSign invoice or offer we propose a 1:1 offer at a price 50% lower than your current provider’s.
