Startups and tech companies: NDAs and freelancer contracts signed right away, without an expensive tool

An SME e-signature for a team that moves fast and has no time to print contracts. You send a document, the other side signs with a finger on a phone in a minute, and you pay PLN 69 net a month and can cancel at any time. NDAs, preliminary and cooperation agreements are signed with full legal effect.

SignSafe is a tool for electronic document workflow and for collecting signatures on NDAs, preliminary, cooperation, freelancer and B2B agreements for PLN 69 net a month: a PDF goes to the other party, who, even without a qualified signature, signs it with a finger on a phone in a minute, with no account. When document volume grows, sending can be automated through the API.

With SignSafe, startups and technology companies sign agreements online quickly and securely, without paper formalities. Automate document sending, save time and cut operating costs, and connect the API when the volume of documents grows.

What does your startup or tech company gain?

You sign agreements faster and drop needless formalities, so the team can focus on building the product. You save time and costs, and as the company grows you can automate sending through the API.

Time

Faster signing of agreements, including investment agreements and intellectual property protection. The scope of use depends on the type of document.

Lower costs

Lower operating costs of handling paper documents: printing, posting and scanning.

Easy cooperation

You work with business partners around the world, because the other side needs only a phone, internet and a finger.

What usually gets in the way

The freelancer is starting today and the contract sits in emails

Printing, scanning and returning delays the start, or ends with work beginning without a signed contract.

An NDA before every partner conversation

Confidentiality has to be settled before details are shared. When signing takes days, the conversation slips.

The budget is tight and the tools are heavy

A heavyweight e-signature provider can cost more than a startup needs for sending, signing and returning a document.

What you get

PLN 69

net a month for the standard plan with full access and 1 GB for documents

No account

the other side does not register, so you can send a document right away

API

for when document volume grows and you want to send from your own system

How it works

You save templates

You save the NDA, freelancer contract and B2B agreement once as a template with fields to complete.

You send the document

You pick a recipient from your contact list or add a new one and send a link to their email address.

The other side signs on a phone

The freelancer, client or partner opens the link in a browser and signs with a finger. No account and no app.

You get a notification and the PDF

An email announces the signature and the finished PDF is on your account. You see the status in real time.

You scale through the API

When there are many documents, you connect sending and the return of signed PDFs to your own app.

  • Young B2B companies that need fast signing of agreements with clients and partners

Which documents a startup can sign in SignSafe

NDAs, preliminary agreements, cooperation agreements and other startup documents are signed in SignSafe with full legal effect. These are examples of use, not legal advice.

  • Freelancer contracts. A mandate or specific-work contract sent to a developer, designer or copywriter before they start.
  • NDAs. A confidentiality agreement sent to a partner or candidate before a conversation about product details.
  • B2B agreements. Contracts with clients and suppliers signed remotely by people in different cities or countries.
  • Consents and declarations. Short documents, for example a data processing consent.
  • Annexes. A change of scope or rate without another printing cycle.

For talks with investors, SignSafe is used to sign an NDA before a meeting. We describe the rules on the legal security page.

The cost of e-signature in a startup: PLN 69 net a month

The standard SignSafe plan costs PLN 69 net a month and includes full access and 1 GB for documents. There is a free trial at the start. It is one plan, and you can cancel it at any time.

If you use another provider today and pay more, show us an invoice or offer. For API customers and those switching providers we prepare an offer at 50% of the current offer’s price, on terms agreed individually. See pricing and switching providers.

SME e-signature for a small business or a stealth startup

A small business or a startup that is not yet public usually has few people and many documents: NDAs, contractor agreements, consents and offers. For such a team an SME e-signature should be cheap, quick to start and not require the other side to register. In SignSafe the standard plan is PLN 69 net a month with a free trial period at the start, and the signer needs only a browser.

For a startup working in stealth, two facts matter: documents are stored on servers in the European Union (OVH hosting), and business customers sign a data processing agreement. We do not make claims beyond that about confidentiality or secrecy, so for sensitive deals ask us about your specific case. Related: paperless contract signing.

From the first contract to the API: how e-signature grows with a startup

At first you send documents by hand from the panel: a few NDAs a week, contracts with the first freelancers. That is enough and needs no integration.

As the product grows, so does the number of documents. It might be an agreement for every new client created in your app, or a consent from every user. Then manual sending starts eating team time. The SignSafe API lets you send documents from your system and receive signed PDFs into the right client or project record.

The scope of the integration depends on your system, and pricing is individual. We support the rollout at every stage. You do not have to change tools as the company grows, because the same account handles both the first contract and later automation.

Written form, NDAs and freelancer contracts: what the opinion says

For NDAs, preliminary agreements, cooperation agreements, B2B agreements and freelancer contracts, a handwritten signature is enough. According to a legal opinion from Gałecki and Associates dated 21 August 2023, a SignSafe signature is a handwritten signature, and a declaration of intent signed in the app meets the written form requirement (Art. 78 of the Civil Code). If the signature failed to meet the handwriting requirement, the declaration is valid in documentary form (Art. 77² of the Civil Code).

Where the electronic form under Art. 78¹ of the Civil Code (qualified signature) is required, we can connect a qualified signature in SignSafe. This summarises an opinion and is not legal advice. Details: legal security.

Four ways to sign for startups

A co-founder, investor or customer may be in another country, with no account and no printer. SignSafe offers four ways to sign: e-mail with a one-time code, no password; e-mail with an account password; signing on a device at a point with no login; and signing on a courier's or supplier's tablet. You can also prepare a document as a template with fields for the other party to fill in. These are examples of use.

Tech companies and partners from around the world

A technology company rarely has all its partners in one city. An investor, collaborator or client may be in another time zone and have neither a printer nor a qualified signature. They get a link, open the document on a phone and sign with a finger. The app interface is available in Polish and English, and we can add another language.

For investment agreements and agreements on intellectual property protection, speed matters, and so does the right form of the document. The scope of use depends on the type of document; if in doubt, consult a lawyer. Where a qualified electronic signature is required, we can connect one in SignSafe.

Security and legal basis

Documents and signers’ data are stored on servers in the European Union (OVH hosting).

For business and API customers we sign a data processing agreement.

A SignSafe signature is a handwritten signature and, according to a legal opinion from Gałecki and Associates dated 21 August 2023, meets the written form requirement (Art. 78 of the Civil Code); at the least, the declaration is valid in documentary form (Art. 77² of the Civil Code). Where a qualified electronic signature is required (the electronic form under Art. 78¹ of the Civil Code), we can connect one in SignSafe. We do not compete with the notarial deed.

Legal nature of a signature placed by hand on the touch screen of an electronic device

A signature placed in SignSafe is a handwritten signature, and a declaration of intent signed in the app meets the requirements of written form. If the signature did not qualify as handwritten, the declaration is still valid in documentary form. In legal effect it is equivalent to a qualified electronic signature: both preserve written form.
